Project Description
Aerospace Research Facility Testing Chamber
Redondo Beach, California
Evaluated general subsurface soil conditions for deepening an existing testing chamber at an aerospace research facility in Redondo Beach. This study included drilling supplementary interior ‘craned-in’ limited access exploratory borings in a ‘clean area’ for assessment of foundation soils and groundwater conditions for deepening and existing below-grade chamber below groundwater level within a high-bay structure, temporary shoring adjacent structures. This study also included a site-specific liquefaction potential, earthquake-induced reconsolidation settlements, permanent lateral spread displacements, and provided a geotechnical report with recommendations for foundations and below-ground retaining walls.
